I needed to find something fun to pair with my Argentine Malbec, and I ran across this recipe for a Cherry Barbecue Sauce. A rack of ribs with a glass of Malbec...sounds perfect! Enjoy!
Cherry BBQ Sauce 1 medium onion chopped 2 T butter 2 cloves garlic, minced 2 C fresh or frozen sweet dark cherries, pitted and coarsely chopped 1 C ketchup 2/3 C brown sugar, packed 1 T Worcestershire Sauce 2 T ground mustard 1/2 t pepper 1/8 t liquid smoke, optional ~Saute onion in butter until tender. Add garlic and cook 1 minute longer. Stir in remaining ingredients and cook uncovered over medium-low heat for 20 minutes until cherries are tender and sauce is thickened.
